A general membership meeting was held at Komax Solar on November1st 2011.
An abbreviated meeting was held to allow as much time as possible for a presentation and tour of the Komax Solar plant. President Deb Dixon circulated a membership listing and requested it be reviewed for accuracy and completeness. Deb also noted that we are looking for SBA members to host future meetings; please contact her at

Due to time constraints a Treasurer’s Report was not provided. The following summarizes our financial activity for the reporting period: (10/5/11 through 11/1/11):
Beginning Balance $2,855.74
Ending Balance $2,962.14
Receipts were from membership dues ($225.00) and payments were for administrative expenses ($118.60).
Jim Brown provided an overview of the Komax Solar operations. The York plant opened in September 2009 and has 170 employees occupying approximately 100,000 SF of office and manufacturing space in Springettsbury Township. Komax does not manufacture solar panels; it specializes in the interconnection of solar cells and is a manufacturer/supplier of equipment used to make the world’s most successful solar modules.
A tour of the entire manufacturing facility was conducted showing how individual sub-assemblies were manufactured to create the automated equipment that is shipped to the customer. Members were also able to watch testing of the finished product, highly complex assemblies used to manufacture the individual solar modules.
